For standard setup
1) Height of 5 feet 8 inches (173 cm) is measured vertically from the standing surface to the centre of the bull.
In the diagram a raised platform is shown but the oche is not on the platform so the height is measured from the floor (standing surface).
2) Throwing Distance of 7 feet 9 and a quarter inches (237 cm) is measured from the surface of the dartboard to the oche.

The oche is usually marked with a tape or line which is at least one inch in width and 3 feet in length placed centrally aligned to the bullseye. Referring to the diagram the oche should be placed on the left edge of the red area so that stepping on the tape is considered NOT crossing the oche.
Setup for wheelchair players
All points mentioned in the standard setup apply with the following adjustments.
The Height of the dartboard is set at 4 feet 6 inches (137 cm) measured in the same manner described for the standard setup. The diagonal measurement is 274 cm. While the front wheels are allowed to cross the oche during throw but the hind wheels have to remain behind the oche and in the Throwing Area. One or both hind wheels may remain in contact with a raised oche or platform. Neither hind wheel is allowed to cross the tape demarking the oche line.
The diagonal measurements may be used in both cases for a faster way to mark the position of the oche. Once the height of the dartboard is measured and the dartboard is hung in place run a measuring tape from the centre of the bullseye a distance of 293 or 274 cm, as the case may be, directly to the start of the Throwing Area (marked in red).
These measurements apply to all international games and tournaments for youths' and adults' competitions.
How To Clean A Bristle Dartboard
-
Remove the dartboard from its hanging
-
Remove the number ring
-
Pour some liquid wood polish onto a clean cloth
-
Rub this firmly into the bristle fibre
-
Repeat until the whole dartboard is evenly covered with one layer of the polish
-
Let the polish settle into the fibre for a day
-
Poke a dart into the dartboard the next day
-
If the dart comes out dry repeat the polishing and test
-
Polish as many times as is necessary until the dart comes out damp
-
Replace the number ring and the dartboard is ready for use
Note: Do not use water. This is likely to cause swelling on the dartboard.
